In this blog post, we're excited to share with you three new wine releases at Hocking Hills Winery that are sure to tantalize your taste buds and leave you wanting more. Let's raise a glass and discover what's new at Hocking Hills Winery!
2022 Ohio Lake Logan Blush
Nose: Persimmon, yellow strawberries, hibiscus
Pallet: Watermelon, Mandarin orange, white raspberry, white pepper
Winemaker Notes: Lake Logan Blush is a fresh and juicy rosé with crisp acidity and a fruit-forward finish. This is an all-Ohio hybrid rosé made from Frontenac, Catawba, and our estate Petite Pearl. Both the Frontenac and Petite Pearl were pressed off of the skins immediately with no skin contact time, despite this we felt that the wine was still too dark for a rosé and elected to add some white Catawba to soften the color and add additional complexity. Those are some seriously dark grapes! Keep an eye out for the red wine versions in the future.
2022 Ohio White Catawba
Nose: Pear, mellon, jasmine
Pallet: Limoncello, quince, sweet-tart, granny smith apple
Medals: Gold at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
Winemaker Notes: A red Native American grape variety used for wine as well as juice, jams, and jellies. It is a likely cross of the native American Vitis labrusca and the Vitis vinifera cultivar Semillon. Catawba is a red grape that is typically produced as a sweet pink wine. We decided to have some fun and make it as a dry white wine for this vintage. We’re excited to see what you think of Catawba as a dry white wine, please let us know your opinion!
Pink Moscato
Nose: White raspberry, peach, rose petal, orange blossom
Pallet: Strawberries and cream, dried apricot, papaya
Medals & Awards: 94 Points, Best Moscato, and Platinum Medal at San Diego International Wine Competition
Winemaker Notes: A deliciously sweet and balanced pink Moscato with a bright and juicy fruit finish. Our winemakers are very excited by this wine. When asked to make a pink Moscato they took it as a personal challenge to make a balanced and nuanced wine. It had amazing success at the San Diego International Wine Competition where it not only received the award for Best Moscato and a Platinum medal, but it tied for 1st place by points for pink wines out of over 80 wines that medaled!
All these wines are now pouring in the tasting room and available for online purchase.
Stay tuned to our social media and this blog for more new wine release coming in June! Cheers!
